Ingredients

For the Dip
  • 1 ripe avocado peeled and pitted
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro or parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch red pepper flakes optional
Optional Garnish
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Diced avocado
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Lime wedges

Method

  1. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado with a fork until mostly smooth, leaving a little texture if desired.
  3. Add the Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, cumin, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Mix until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt or lime juice if needed.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and garnish with cilantro, diced avocado, and chili flakes if desired.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • Use a perfectly ripe avocado for the creamiest texture.
  • Full-fat Greek yogurt makes the dip richer and thicker.
  • Fresh lime juice helps prevent the avocado from browning.
  • Blend everything in a food processor for an extra-smooth dip.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
