Ingredients

Bagel Dough
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
Optional toppings
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Sesame seeds
  • Poppy seeds
  • Garlic flakes
  • Cinnamon sugar
Optional Brushing
  • 1 tablespoon milk for brushing

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 2–3 minutes until smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add a little extra flour.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and connect the ends to form a bagel shape.
  5. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with milk and sprinkle with your preferred toppings.
  6. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the bagels are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Allow the bagels to cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use thick Greek yogurt for the best texture.
  • Do not over-knead the dough.
  • Make the center hole slightly larger than desired since it will shrink during baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months.
